Course Request Selection for the 2026-2027 School Year
Attention all parents of students planning to attend Hillcrest High School during the 2026-2027 school year. It is that time of year when students will be choosing classes for the 2026 – 2027 school year. Course request selection will open in Skyward on Monday, February 2nd, at 8:00 am. Please note that counselors will be in all English classrooms to help students select courses for next year and help you maneuver the course selection process. Counselors will be in the 11th-grade English classes on February 2nd and 3rd; in the 10th-grade English classes on February 4th and 5th; and, finally, in the 9th-grade English classes on February 10th and 11th. Additionally, counselors will be in classrooms at Union Middle School and Albion Middle School on Tuesday, February 17th, and Midvale Middle School on Wednesday, February 18th, to help 8th-grade students with their course selection. IMPORTANT: The course selection process will close on Friday, February 20th at 11:59 pm ALL SO COURSES MUST BE SELECTED BY THIS TIME. Please see the Counseling Center if you have any questions. Additional information, PowerPoints, and instructions will be added to our website on January 30th, 2026.
ACT
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS. Wednesday, March 11th, IS THE ACT EXAM FOR ALL JUNIORS!! Juniors are automatically signed up and do not need to do anything to register for this exam. They should, however, set up their accounts at ACT.org if they want the ability to access their scores and send those scores to colleges and/or Universities of their choice for free. Be aware that sending scores to colleges and/or Universities of their choice will only be free from the time they set up their accounts before March 11th to ONLY TWO DAYS after they take the test. That means the deadline to have scores sent for free is March 13th.
Freshmen, sophomores, and seniors WILL NOT REPORT TO SCHOOL on exam day. JUNIORS MUST REPORT TO THEIR ASSIGNED ROOMS NO LATER THAN 7:20 AM FOR THE ACT EXAM on Wednesday, March 11th. REMEMBER TO BRING A FULLY CHARGED, SCHOOL-ISSUED CHROMEBOOK, A PENCIL, AND A CALCULATOR. DO NOT BRING YOUR CELL PHONES. DO NOT FORGET YOUR PHOTO ID!
Digital Citizenship
Most kids will encounter mean behavior at some point in their digital lives. To some kids, this experience is a blip that’s easily forgotten, while for others it can have deep, long-lasting effects. For parents, the key is staying involved in kids’ lives — both online and off — so they can step in and offer help if necessary. With guidance from parents and educators, kids can learn how to dodge the drama and stand up for others. Visit Common Sense Media to learn more about these quick tips.

And we want students to be aware of the tools that can help them succeed and be better prepared for college and/or a career.
