COVID-19 Requirements and Guidelines:

  • Students should:
    • Tell their parents or teacher if they feel sick or have symptoms of COVID-19.
    • Stay home from school and other activities if they feel sick or have symptoms of COVID-19.
    • Stay home from school and other activities (called isolation) if they test positive for COVID-19.
    • Follow the quarantine guidance if they are exposed to someone with COVID-19.
    • Wear a cloth face covering or mask at school.
    • Practice physical distancing as much as possible.
    • Wash their hands with soap and water often.
  • Parents should:
    • Check their child for symptoms of COVID-19 every day before school.
    • Take their child’s temperature every day before school. If their child has a temperature of 100.4o F (38o C) or higher, the child has a fever. If parents do not have a thermometer, they should check their child’s skin to see if it feels warm or is red, or ask if he or she have chills or are sweaty.
    • Keep their child home from school if he or she feels sick or has symptoms of COVID-19.
    • Follow the quarantine guidance if their child or anyone who lives in their home is exposed to someone with COVID-19. 
    • Before the school year starts, tell the school if their child has a health condition that puts him or her at a higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. The health department will call parents of students who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 if they are exposed at the school. 
    • Review and update their child’s plans (Individual Healthcare Plan, Individualized Education Plan, 504 plan) with the school. 
    • Help their child clean his or her cloth face covering or mask.
    • Help make sure that students are at school and in-class where they can be accounted for and monitored.
  • Teachers and employees will:
    • Stay home from school or work if they feel sick or have symptoms of COVID-19. 
    • Will be required to fill out a symptom checker every morning before school starts. This will help guide and monitor the status of school staff.
    • Follow the isolation guidance from the health department if they test positive for COVID-19. 
    • Follow the quarantine guidance if they are exposed to someone with COVID-19. 
    • Understand privacy laws and how these laws relate to any information the school is given by the health department. Know if you have a medical condition that puts you at higher risk for severe disease due to COVID-19. 
    • Provide a safe learning environment for students by following their school plan for reopening. 
    • Prepare curriculum plans in case they have to isolate or quarantine.
    • Encourage students to wash their hands with soap and water often.
    • Wear a cloth face covering or mask at school. 
    • Practice physical distancing as much as possible. 
  • School administrators should:
    • Will work with the health department on contact tracing in the school.
    • Will be required to fill out a symptom checker every morning before school starts. This will help guide and monitor the status of school staff.
    • Understand the privacy laws that protect student, teacher, and employee personally identifiable information (PII). 
    • Provide a safe learning environment for students, teachers, and employees. This includes considering their emotional and social needs. 
    • Provide resources to parents and students who choose or need to continue remote learning. 
    • Wear a mask at school and work. 

Student Parking Areas:

  • Lot off Husky drive (southwest corner of the property)
  • The Main Rear Parking Lot: Students will access this lot by driving along the west property line to the rear of HHS.  Students must enter and exit this parking from 700 east.  This lot is also our driver’s education range. All cars parking in this area must vacate by 2:45pm daily.
  • Students must have a parking permit. Some free spots will be available for students who have not cleared NG’s.

Visitor Parking and Parent Drop Off

  • Visitors will park in the front lot closest to our front doors. Parent drop off will be at the west end of this lot.
  • Parents entering the HHS parking lot from 700 East will drop off students and must exit on to Husky Drive. It is one lane only exiting the property on Husky Drive.
  • Parents entering (two lanes for entry) HHS parking lot from Husky Drive will drop off students and must exit onto 700 east.

Safety and Time Considerations

  • Due to these traffic constraints, drivers should add a 20 minute window to their driving.
  • When entering and exiting on to 700 East, drivers should remain patient and watch carefully for pedestrians.
  • All drivers should give busses and construction vehicles the right of way as they exit onto 700 East.
  • The driver’s Ed range must be cleared by 2:45pm on days driver’s ed will be held. These will be announced via the school PA system.
  • When exiting the back-parking lot onto 700 East, drivers should watch for cars coming from the parent drop off lane turning left on to 700 East.

Safe Walking Routes

  • Students should use cross-walks and designated walking areas.
  • Students in the rear parking lot should use the gravel pathway to the rear of the building and enter the school through the cafeteria. 
  • For evening activities, the public should use the rear parking lot.

APP Class

  • Students APP schedules may change throughout the first two week of school.
  • All schedule changes are done. All other schedule changes will happen during the first week of school.

School Lunch

  • For students here at the school, the cafeteria will have 4/5 lunch lines. Stickers will be placed on the tables so students know where they can sit (social distancing)
  • The entire first floor of the school will be open for students to spread out and eat their lunch. This will help promote social distancing and gathering of large groups.
  • Students will enter the line and be asked what meal they want. A worker will put everything on the tray, including utensils, before handing it to the student. The plan will be to have a scanner, eventually, where the workers can just scan student ID badges. Until the scanner is available, students should either memorize of have written down their student ID number to show the cashier.
  • Nutrition Services is also offering school meals to students enrolled in the distant learning options through Canyons School District. Parents may order school Breakfast $1.25 and Lunch $2.25 from the school where one of their students attend.
  • To place an order at Hillcrest, email the lunch manager by 9:00am. Behunin@Canyonsdistrict.org
  • You will need to add to your email the following: – Student(s)name, School they attend, Student ID number and Specify if they want breakfast, lunch or both.
  • Meals will be ready for pick up between 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.

Contact Tracing

  • Hillcrest High School will be contract tracing at all school activities and in every classroom. This, however, will not be done during lunch time as we are encouraging students to spread out and eat their lunches away from other students.

Chromebook Check-Outs

  • If you have opted for online learning this semester, you will need to come to the Hillcrest Library and checkout a personal Chromebook for study and completion of your work during this school year.
  • Please bring your ID card, if you have one, or your Hillcrest ID number so that the library can assign a Chromebook to you.
  • Wednesday, August 19th and Thursday, August 20th are the days designated for online Chromebook checkout. That is Wednesday and Thursday of this week, before school begins. We are looking forward to seeing you in the library any time during the school day, 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. This is for students who have chosen the online-learning option only. In school students will checkout Chromebooks during the first week of in-person classes.

Upcoming Events

  • You can find the school calendar by going to HHS Website at: https://hhs.canyonsdistrict.org/ Once there, go to “School Info” drop down menu and select “School Calendar”. It will then open our school calendar.
  • Our new school website also provides translation services. When you access the website, at the top right, you will see a translate button. Please click that button and select the language you would like to translate to. This will translate all website information into the language selected.
