Recognition of Mont Millerberg
The group discussed moving the recognition to May or sending a letter to the district. Stacy T. will talk to Stacy K. about sending a letter to the district for recognition of Mont Millerberg. Mont’s wife, Kristine Millerberg, will succeed Mont and serve his term until the end of the year.
Data on 3rd Quarter CFA Goals
Greg shared CFA data based on Math and Science comparing 3rd quarter this year versus last year. Greg believes that Hillcrest and the teachers are motivated to have accurate data. All retake numbers have increased. We can use this quality data to make reasonable adjustments for the year. Greg is pleased with the staff that they are using the data and can make targeted goals. He said that there has been an increase in the ease of teachers adapting to using four assessments minimum. Each teacher has different expectations of students but each teacher grades the same for the most part now. It is expected that Brenda will continue using this data next year.
Agenda Items for May Meeting with New Hillcrest Principal Brenda McCann
Greg suggested that we discuss with Brenda attendance, dress code, equity, what we have liked with school-wide disclosure, and moving forward, how we would want these to grow and continue. Rebecca M. and RJ G. suggested we discuss how to increase school spirit and pride. RJ brought up that many times he sees trash in the parking lot when picking up his student. Stacy T. brought up discussing the letter sent about the parking lot safety which was sent earlier in the year. Greg suggested that we should revisit this request with Brenda. Any further topics we hope to discuss can be sent to Stacy T. Our hope is to have an open discussion with Brenda with the SCC.
SCC Roster
Stacy T. will remain as Chair next year for SCC. We will be losing some members as their kids will be graduating this year. We will need to recruit more parents for next year. Our goal is to attend meetings at our feeder middle schools, athletic meetings, and recruit at Back to School Night. There is a limit on the number of parents; Stacy T. will check the bylaws to see what this number is. We have yet to reach this limit but if we do, there will need to be an election. If a parent is interested in joining next year, they will need to email Greg.
PTSA Update/Coordination
PTSA is coordinating for students to write notes to teachers for teacher appreciation week. On the Monday of Teacher Appreciation Week, there will be snacks for the teachers and on Wednesday there will be a catered lunch for the teachers. On Tuesday, April 23rd there will be a PTSA Spirit Night at Cafe Zao. Grad night will be on May 29th at Dimple Dell Recreation Center. PTSA is still in need of donations for prizes for grad night. PTSA will also be offering scholarships for two Hillcrest Seniors, more details to come.
Other
We discussed how the Aspire Testing was going. There was a glitch at the beginning of testing. It has been difficult to keep the number of students taking the test high. There have been many students who did not want to take the test or did opt-out forms. Standardized tests are one of the ways for schools to be held accountable for teaching standards and achievement.
