Library Policies
Production Center
The library staff can make your classroom copies for you. We encourage you to do this to save time and money. You can do this by:
- Filling out a request form and placing it in the basket behind the circulation desk
- Or emailing hillcresths.copyroom@canyonsdistrict.org with an attached copy of the document and copy request details. PDF documents are preferred.
Please allow AT LEAST 24 hours notice for copies.
Chromebooks
Chromebooks
The library does not offer daily Chromebook or charger checkouts. Students should bring a charged Chromebook each day. Additionally, many teachers have extra Chromebooks available in their classrooms.
Classroom Chromebooks
Each teacher may have 2 Chromebooks and chargers. Please have a designated spot in your classroom for these devices. Please encourage your students to sign them in and out or provide collateral for the checkout.
What To Do If Your Classroom Chromebook Goes Missing
- If you know the student who last had it, find them in their next period and get it back.
- If that student doesn’t have it, email Jenny Olsen AND Trevor Jakeman which Chromebook is missing (hint: let us know the barcode of the Chromebook you still have).
- Trevor can identify who last logged in to the computer and disable it. Hopefully, this encourages its return.
Hall Passes
All students who come to the library must have a hall pass. Check your box for a stack, or talk with a library staff member for more.
Please schedule the library by talking to Jenny or using one of the schedule links to the right.
Classroom Movies
- We have three great resources for watching movies:
- SWANK
- Classroom Video on Demand
- DVDs in the library’s collection.
See links on this page.
Canyons District Policy
Canyons District policy states that only movies that are (1) owned by the school (2) approved by the librarian and an administrator can be shown with the following conditions:
• G and PG: OK to show
• PG-13: must have signed parent permission
• R: Cannot be shown, including clips
• Unrated/ Not Rated: Use caution
Currently, shows cannot be streamed from Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, Hulu, etc. This violates the terms of use and district policy and can result in hefty fines for the teacher and the school. Please use caution when showing YouTube videos.
Textbook Checkout
All textbooks should be checked out through the library to help reduce teacher workload and streamline student fines. Please contact Jenny Olsen to schedule a time to check out textbooks or novels to students. If you also need a classroom set of books, please get in touch with Jenny.
